Original KT66 are 25w. "Design Max." and 30w. "Absolute Max." according to the GEC data linked below:
http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/frank/sheets/086/k/KT66.pdf I would consider the current production ones to be 25w. unless someone here knows differently. Here is a note I saved from Randall Aiken regarding KT66 circuit design: "The original GEC KT66 spec'd a max grid resistor of 1M if the total plate and screen dissipation is less than 27W, or 500K if greater than 27W, in cathode bias operation. In fixed bias operation, the max grid resistance is 250K if the total plate and screen dissipation is less than 27W and 100K if the total dissipation is greater than 27W. In order to prevent parasitic oscillations, the original data sheet also recommends a screen resistor of 100 - 300 ohms and a control grid "stopper" resistor of 10K - 50K." Randall Aiken

Looks like JJ rates theirs 25w.
http://www.jj-electronic.com/pdf/KT66.pdf I'd stay away from the re-issue "TungSol" KT66. Not a true KT66 at all, and it has a funky electrical connection to the metal base band.

Going to use Shuguang (Valve Art, Chinese, Ruby) KT-66. Rivera & KCANOS recommends them.

After trying some KT66's out I didn't like the way they sounded. If you want a fender amp to sound a little more marshallish you might like them.
Personally I like 6L6GC's in Marshalls or Fenders. The KT66's I used were matched very well & nice tubes but just not my cup of tea. They did have
a little tighter bottom end but not that nice crisp presence I like.

I like 'em in my Low Power Tweed Twin.
On my tweed when I add treble to get the presence that you speak of I get more gain as well ! A win-win situation. That's what the EQ is for. KT's aren't supposed to sound "just like" 6L6's anyway. Added benefit................they look great in my old tweed. JJ |

In the tube response tests I did a couple of years ago, I tried a pair in the Traynor YBA-1 that I used as the test donkey. I had them biased at about 60%
dissipation and they sounded VERY sweet when clean or distorted. I almost left them in the amp. I have the short-lived GT-KT66-HP. I wish I had bought several
pairs.

Doug's Tubes still has some of the Russian Saratov KT-66, which are identical to the GT-HP version without the orange paint. Same tooling, etc.
