All the other people that wanted one probably had them already - and overpaid.
Glad you found one. Still crazy they cost as much as they do, but they don't make them anymore and there are only so many out there.
So many
frequencies, so little time...

Good score, Willie. Prices at online auctions are often governed by who happens to have noticed a particular item is for sale. Some people just cannot let
themselves be beaten on price and pay stupid dollars for stuff.

I think the CA-4 will be a great addition to the shop. It will be nice to be able to read transconductance on compactrons as well as some others that we've
never been able to measure. That said...I have a buyer for my B&K 606 emission tester for more than I paid for the CA-4....so this is really good. :-)
The CA-4 adds one helluvalot to the list of tubes we can measure. I had some extra dough this month as was actually prepared to pay almost a hundred bucks more for the SOB than I did....in fact, I had to go to a party at the same time the auction closed...so I just said what the heck and put a 200 dollar max bid in....and low and behold when I got home I see where the auction never got hot and heavy...no snipers....just got lucky I guess. Makes up for the 10 times prior I got beat out by the stupid money bids. Now I hope the old Hickok 600a holds up now...I only recently calibrated it and converted the high voltage rectifier over to solid state. |
