Not sure what to think of this. Maybe building them on hallowed ground will bring some mojo.

I'm game. I hope they plan to make KT88's and such. It would be nice to be able to get the type of quality tubes you could get about 30yrs ago. If the
longevity is 10yrs on 'em, a high price wouldn't be that much of an obstacle either. Just don't drop kick your amp too much.

Hey, I ran this info by a Brit on another forum. He hears that they will be introducing power tubes in the coming year. He says the pre-amp tubes mentioned on
the site go for 20-30 Pounds sterling. That is 'sterling'..indeed. That adds up to alot of 'Ka-chingy' in US $'s...Yikes!

When converted to Os$ that's more than double the price of JJs and three times the price of a Sovtek, without factoring in freight, import duty,
distributor commision. They might be that good but I think I'd have a hard time convincing my customers to drop that sort of dough.

I emailed the company for more info on the ability to purchase some of these tubes. This is what they wrote. As you may have read on the web site we launched the TechTubeTM brand back in September 2008 with a view to launching web sales of the product in October. Following very detailed, open and honest feedback from discerning end users at the launch the start of sales was postponed to allow our engineers time to rectify the few technical issues raised, namely valve to valve and within valve consistency, and microphony. This rectification is taking longer than anticipated. As a consequence it is with regret that I have to inform you of the delay to the launch of the sales web site. The difficult decision has been taken to delay the opening of sales until the beginning of April 2009. It should be remembered that our goal is to be selling a product that is better than the current manufactured product. Blackburn MicroTech Solutions, the Company behind the TechTubeTM brand, is what remains of the former Mullard Radio Valve works based in Blackburn so we have a strong heritage to uphold, so strong we named our first series after it! We hope you understand our situation and ask for your patience. With kind regards, The TechTubeTM team. PS> Below are some notes that I would like to reiterate: The valve will cost £26.09 + VAT @ 15% + shipping if EU based
Larger volume requirements should be directed to andy.blades@blackburnmicrotech.com not ordered via the web site. If anything is unclear please direct your questions to info@blackburnmicrotech.com Supposedly they claim also that that their product will be better & more consistent in quality than the old tubes that use to be made. |

Can we catagorize this in some sort of 'value' assessment?
For instance, if a old Phillips tube has a Tone Unit Factor ( tuF ) of 72.3 ( based on 100 being the most tone ), and it cost $23, then the $$/tuF would be 0.032. With defined tuF numbers for most/more popular tubes, one could readily get a numerical equivalent value for dollars vs. tone. As well, the person that initially assigns the tuF should have his/her tuF Accuracy Rating, or tuFAR ( in % ). The equation would then become $$/(tuF*tuFAR) Obviously, the Tone Snobs could then battle over who has the ___________ number.
