I don't know when my AVO VCM Mk2 was last calibrated and I suspect it is supplying erroneous results, so I thought I should check it now. I have the
manual and it has instructions for calibration, but they are not very precise. As a non-electronic person, I don't want to damage either the tester or
myself. If anyone here has experience of calibrating this type of tester, I would be grateful for some assistance.

These are not precision instruments, but that said, I do check mine occasionally by setting a range of voltages to the various pins, then measuring them with a
DVM (I usually use the Octal base as it is easy to get at the sockets).

Thank you for the response. What is the Circuit Selector switch set to when you check your VCM? Is it "Test"?

Calibration all done. Grid volts was out around 5% and the meter was out around 4%. Together they made my valves appear to be significantly "better" than they really are. Many thanks for your help. |
