Just changing the output transistors will not gain any power.

Output transistors MUST be reasonably matched on each power rail and sometimes even between the two rails.

I don't have the schematic in front of me but I'm guessing these models have different output power ratings.

If that is the case then you can expect each of them to be designed with the "safety margin" that the individual company sees fit to use.

That means, any parts that can be designed or purchased in finer increments of power ratings than resistors or caps will have their ratings analyzed and purchased or designed as needed FOR THAT PARTICULAR MODEL.

Occasionally you will find an amp within a series with more output transistors of the same type to acommodate more power. If you look at the power transformers for the two amps you will probably see a difference.

When trying to judge a transistors suitability for a particular application I will almost always refer to the datasheets of the original as compared to the datasheet of any replacement I might be considering.

The important ratings are.
Polarity. --- NPN or PNP
Package --- size and shape
collector current
collector emitter voltage
dissipation in watts

There is more to it than that. The suffixes on the transistor numbers are more important than you may realize.

I will always attempt to use the original transistor unless I am 100 percent sure that a replacement will work long term.
